La Dolce Italia was launched in Melbourne by the incomparable Sophia Loren in April 2015. The goodwill visit by Sophia Loren was an important curtain raiser for La Dolce Italia 2016 and the future.
The glittering event supported by former Prime Minister Tony Abbott, Premier Dan Andrews, the Italian Ambassador Pier Francesco ZAZO, and Italian Consul to Melbourne, Marco Maria Cerbo, launched La Dolce Italia and raised funds for the Alannah and Madeline Foundation.
EventCepts delivered the new signature annual gala event to rave reviews and extensive media coverage for the outstanding diversity and excellence of the night’s entertainment. The positive response from a who’s who of people from all walks of life conclusively proved strong public interest in Italian icons and quality themed events that can generate energy, interest and excitement for Melbourne. Little wonder then that performers from across the broad spectrum of the Arts gleefully take-up the opportunity to support La Dolce Italia, its Charity Gala Dinner and the Alannah and Madeline Foundation.
A galaxy of stars and celebrities were in attendance and guests were treated to some mesmerising performances from a selection of the best talent Australia and Italy has to offer. The evening in April with our international guest was hosted by MC’s John Deeks (Australia TV network icon), star of Italian stage and screen, Lidia Vitale, and James Liotta, Italo-Australian actor, comedian and presenter.The entertainment was provided by up and coming Italian popstar and star of acclaimed filmAmeluk, Francesca “Franky” Giaccari, the audience was enchanted by Elly Oh as she continues her journey from Opera to pop sensation via her finals berth onThe Voice, and Teresa Vee who’s known for her vocals in the recording, La Dolce Italia.Legends of the Southern Land featuring John Swan, Ray Burgess, Marty Rhone, John St Peeters and Tommy Emmanuel were a wonderful treat for admirers of Oz-rock.
They were also joined by internationally renowned songwriter, performer and storyteller Phil Walleystack with more stirring music and dancers that dazzled the audience with a sumptuous rhythmic feast for the senses.
